Prirodno je dovesti na sigurno stražnji checker i zatvoriti 2.polje. Efektivno bijeli vodi samo 3 pipsa. Ako se doda još 1 pips zbog 3.crnog checkera na 1.polju koji će generirati gubitak u kupljenju, onda max 4 pipsa. Ništa nije manje sigurno kao "dobivena trka", stoga je bijelome korisnije iskoristiti 2 blota u crnoj kući, zbog kojih kao i zbog snažnije kuće bijeloga, crni neće lako udariti. Održanjem kontakta povećava svoje šanse za udarac, što znači više gammona. Siguran potez donosi više pobjeda, ali uz okrenutu kocku gammonu vrijede dvostruko. 

Natural play is to put back checker on safe place and to cover 2pt. But white is only 3 pips ahead in race, max 4 if we adjust one pip because of third black checker onto acept. There is nothing less sure like "won race", so white has to exploit black's weak homeboard and retain contact. Safe play wins more games and it will be winner with cube still in center but with cube already sent white has to play more aggressively for gammons. At first, gammons means four points with cube turned and second white has to win with checkers only. There are no more those wins when white sends the cube and black has to pass.
